1. Why is Manti, Utah the gathering place for the TLC?

The Lord has commanded His saints to gather to Manti.

Manti has always been believed by the pioneers to be a special place, one with significance in the Last Days. President Brigham Young and the Twelve Apostles recognized that the commandment to build a "city of Zion" would be fullfilled in the West. President Young designated Manti to be that city and commanded a Temple to be built there. In 1851, the Legislature of the "State of Deseret" set aside a massive area of land in the Sanpete Valley for the city of Manti in order to follow the pattern originally designed by Joseph Smith.

The Manti Temple itself has special significance. Originally built by polygamists, it has one of the few "live" endowment sessions still available. Following all true temples, the Manti Temple was built as an architectural metaphor of the Law of Eternal Progression and as yet has remained unchanged in that respect. We believe that before His coming in glory, the Lord will return to the Manti Temple to endow His people with power, even the Fullness of the Priesthood.
