Michael became Adam-who became God. The
changing of Holy Things within necessitates an outward research.
These Books contain new evidence and vital
prophecies covering the closing events of this world. Their contents are
educational and spiritual. They establish the divinity of Jesus and the divine
mission of Joseph Smith. They will open the spiritual eye as to present
conditions. The foretold apostasy is here. The coming of the "One Mighty
and Strong to set in ORDER the House of God" is at our doors. This
act will be followed by the inauguration of "The Kingdom of God."

MICHAEL. ADAM GOD
Jesus the Christ tells us: "He that
watches NOT for me shall be cut off." D. & C. 45:44. He also said:
"I and My Father are One." Jn. 10:30. Hence: if we watch NOT for our
Father God, and deny Him His Fatherhood position and choose to worship our
Grandfather God ---what can we expect? "Be not deceived," says He,
"Blessed are those who have not been deceived." Again says He:
"If a person gains more knowledge acid intelligence in this life through
his diligence and obedience than another, he will have so much the advantage in
the world to come." D. & C. 130:19. Joseph Smith said: "A man is
saved no faster than he gets knowledge." H. of C. 4:588.
In an official 1936 letter-statement on
the Godhead teachings of the L.D.S. Church, signed by Pres. Heber J. Grant and
David O. McKay, they state: "We understand that when Adam was placed in the
Garden of Eden he was immortal, i.e., he was not subject to death either
spiritual or temporal.- (Now this, according to this Article would make him a
Spirit, in His First Estate. D. & C. 129:2 says: "A Spirit hath not
flesh and bones.")
"Since Adam had not passed
through the resurrection his Spirit AND Body were not inseparably connected;'
(Now this would make him a mortal man, but where did he get his bones?)
"hence it was possible for him to become mortal by partaking of the fruit
of the 'Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil'." (Not necessary, for this part
of the statement would make him a mortal man to start with, without this FRUIT.)
"By doing so he received the seeds of death and brought to pass mortality
in himself. Christ came to atone for Adam's transgressions."
(Now it was resurrected immortal Michael who fell-the mortal fruit placed red
mortal blood in his veins and he became mortal Adam.) "The Saviour said
that He had life in Himself as the Father had life in Himself (John 5:26), (Jn. 10:15-18).
Through the Atonement made by our Lord, Adam was redeemed
from his transgression and received the resurrection." Now this evidently
means that Adam's body lay in the grave for over 3100 years. Paul and others
tell us that Christ "become the first Fruits of them that slept." I
Cor. 15:20-23. That was in A.D. 34.
It was Michael, the spirit and mortal
Father of our Jesus Christ, you and I, who first and truly had the knowledge,
power and free agency to become Mortal or Adam, they to restore His mortal body
back to immortality by and thru the two principle divinely cultured Trees placed
in the midst of the Garden of Eden. It is the Great Hidden Mystery of Creation,
says Brigham Young. In reality, this mystery is only to those who cannot read.
"And the Lord God said, Behold, the man (Adam) is become as one of us, to
know good and
page 4
evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand
and take ALSO of the Tree of Life, and eat, and live for ever." Gen. 3:22.
Verse 24 reads: reads: "So he drove out the man; and he placed a
flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the Tree of Life."
For how long? Until Adam and Eve had
finished their initial work of bringing their own spirit children into
Mortality, with true Gospel planted within their souls. The Lord (in Joseph
Smith's Inspired Version) here adds a verse confirming this very thing, or work,
that must first be fulfilled between the partaking of the fruits of these two
sacred Trees. Here we have, in few words, how Michael became Adam; then, 927-930
yrs. later, became God; He never entered the grave. Death also means
"Departure." He evidently returned to the Sun. (Whitney) Alma 12:23.
On June 30, 1916, "The First
Presidency and the Twelve Apostles" signed an 8 pg. printed Article,
entitled: "The Father and the Son." Now the names, titles, positions
or Works of Michael-who after the "Fall" became mortal Adam-are not
even mentioned in this notorious Article. Why? Because it would have uprooted
and disannulled their entire arguments. It truly states: the "Scriptural
meaning of 'Father' is that of Creator." But : It declares we are the
direct spirit body offspring of Eloheim, that He is our Father God; that our
Jesus Christ is the Actual First Born Spirit Son of Eloheim; that this son is
named Jehovah; that it was this Spirit Son who actually created our earth. This
last statement violates all laws of intelligence. Now these four untrue
statements are also printed and approved in book, entitled "Progress of
Man," 1936, by Apostle Joseph Fielding Smith, pp. 12, 67.
"Mormonism" declares that
reincarnation is false doctrine, that we all pass thru mortal birth and death
but once. Alma J 1:45. Hence, this certain described Jehovah, whom our Brethren
wrongly name our Jesus Christ, would have to be in His First Estate, like you
and I, at the Creation. This Article enthroned Him as the actual main Creator of
our earth and others. "Jesus Christ, being the Creator." It also
places Him in authority over our Michael Adam and Eve, who in Eden were in their
Fourth Estate. This Jehovah is declared, in this article, to be the Christ
Jehovah Saviour over Adam and Eve and their Posterity.
In certain Holy Ceremonies, Eloheim and
Jehovah the Grew,, speaking to Michael Adam in Eden, said: "We will provide
a Saviour for you." Question: Does this indicate that either of these great
resurrected Immortal Beings would be sent or given to Adam and Eve as a Saviour
for themselves and their posterity? No indeed No one has that right except
Michael's first born Spirit Son. The name and title of Michael is "One who
is like God," i.e., a Young God. Our original Temple Ceremonial service
most positively portrayed Michael and Eve coming into the Garden of Eden as
resur-
page 5
rected, immortal, Celestial Beings, the
actual parents of our Spirit bodies, born unto them in Heaven. Our Brethren
still acknowledge that Michael became Adam. Only Resurrected Immortal Beings
become mortal by eating mortal fruit. I now ask a solemn question: Who and where
is Michael's First born Spirit Son, who is entitled to be the Messiah, Christ,
Jehovah and Saviour of Michael's Kingdom, for His own Spirit and mortal
descendants? I will favor you with the answer: He is car Elder Brother Jesus
Christ, the Son of Michael Adam God, and not of Eloheim. He is also named Jesus,
"The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world." Rev. 13:8.
This means that the FALL of Immortal
Resurrected Michael was aforeknown and agreed upon in the "Grand
Council" of the Gods. This took place when: "The Heads of the Gods
appointed ONE God for us" (Michael); says Joseph Smith. He also tells us
"Eloheim ought to be in the plural all the way through - Gods." T. of
the P. J. S., p. 372; H. of C. 6:475-6. "Elohim, Eloheim, the Hebrew plural
for God;" "The Council of the Gods," says Whitney,
"Elias," p. 118. Prof. W. H. Chamberlin, of the Brigham Young College,
wrote a valuable Paper
on "Use of the word Elohim." He
personally contributed the same to B. H. Roberts, at the time of his great
discussion of "Mormon Doctrine of Deity" (p. 234-7). This learned
Prof. confirmed in details, that "Elohim," at all times should
be rendered: "Gods." He highly honored Joseph Smith for doing
likewise. Again says he: "Jehovah Elohim, translated the Lord God. These
words were put together LATE in Israel's History when Elohim had come to be used
in the singular; Jehovah Elohim meant Jehovah, i.e., God."
The Hebrew scholar David L. Cooper
interprets Gen. 1, thus: "The first word refers to a plurality of Divine
Beings, and the second expression singles out one of these Gods and states the
special work which He did." (This was Michael.) The title of Elohim is used
by the L.D.S. to represent the Supreme Head of our Gods. Does this indicate in
the smallest degree, that the Head of the Gods received this appointment Himself
to be our Father God? No! But it was Michael, says the Prophet Joseph, whom they
appointed. It is therefore clear why our modern Seers have conveniently lost our
Father Michael; but, we will this day find Him. The elimination of Michael as
our Father God, leaves nothing, except: "the Gods" or "Council of
the Gods," no individual. God said to Moses: "Only an account of this
earth, and the inhabitants thereof, give I unto I unto you." Moses Orson
Pratt, the most learned Apostle, in his Apr. 13, 1856, Tabernacle Sermon (J. of
D. 3:344) tells us: "Adam and Eve were immortal, the same as resurrected
Beings a body of immortal flesh and bone." From Joseph Smith, we have
a true Hebrew translation of Genesis One, given June 16, 1844. I quote from his
H. of C. 6:475-6: "The Heads of the Gods brought forth the Gods;"
again: "The Heads of the Gods appointed ONE God for us." T. of the P.
J. S. p. 372.
page 6
Question: Who was that One God? They now
tell us that it was Jehovah or Elohim. BUT Elohim is no individual, hence they
know not their Father God. Joseph Smith and our early leaders said it was
Michael. Enoch said it was Michael; he also calls him "The Head of Days,
and His Head was white like wool." Enoch then explained that this
"Head of Days" was the same One as the "Lord of Spirits." In
a fragment of the Book of Noah, in the Book of Enoch, it says: "Adam, the
first man whom the Lord of Spirits created." Did not Father Michael change
or create Himself into Adam by putting red mortal blood into His own veins? It
is the sole prerogative of each Lord of Spirits to appoint His oldest Son as
Saviour of His Kingdom.
In the great apostate Council of Nicene,
in 325 A.D. also in 431 and 451, they squeezed the Trinity into One God. (The
Roman Catholic God.) In this June 30, 1916 Council, this 8 page Article on
"The Father and the Son," they took away our Father God Michael by way
of elimination, and gave us our Grandfather God-"Eloheim." (Michael's
Father---so called.) They also completely eliminated Father Michael's First Born
Spirit Son, our Jesus Christ. They gave His name to Jehovah the Great, the
Christ of the "Eloheim" Kingdom, the one who preached the Gospel unto
Michael, when he was a mortal man, in a mortal world previous to ours. In
concluding this part of our Trinity story, let every man who still possesses one
spark of the original Gospel, pray for the coming of our Lord before the THIRD
Trinity. Council sits in judgment as to who is God. If this fails-the new
Trinity will be placed beyond the infinite conception of mortal man: the
workings of Satan.
Returning to our subject: Michael Adam God
---we here have only one personage, but He has, in His course of eternal
progression, occupied the last three Priesthood offices or titles. We only know
our Gods, to a great degree, by the names of the Priesthood offices they hold.
Namely: Michael who became Adam, who became our supreme Father God, at
"Adam-ondi-Ahman." The title of Michael means: "One who is like
God." Many oppose this Adam God Doctrine due to their conception of Adam's
weakness. But Adam's weakness is not a reality, only a short-cut story from
Father God to His weak mortal children. In reality He was, and is, and ever will
be, the strongest spiritual character of our world's history. Paul, the senior
Apostle to the Gentiles, tells us that "Adam was not deceived, but the
woman." I Tim. 2:14. It is very true that God cursed, or caused the earth
not to yield its fulness; but all this was truly for the sole benefit of Adam's
future mortal children: not a single curse fell upon Adam, in person. God
criticized Adam for "hearkening unto the Voice of thy wife," instead
of the Lord's advice, as that would soon become contrary to the future mortal
Law, the husband above the wife, Christ above the man.
page 7
The real Adam was no other than the mighty
senior Archangel 'Michael, "one who is like God," the real Father of
our Spirit bodies. He "fell" that He might also become the senior
mortal Father of his own spirit children. The Jewish Talmud tells us: That Adam
fell a little in order to advance higher. The Book of Mormon, at II Nephi
2:14-26 says: "All things have been done in the Wisdom of Him who knoweth
all things. Adam fell that (mortal) men might be; and men are, that they might
have joy. And the Messiah cometh in the fullness of time, that he may redeem the
children of men from the fall. And because that they are redeemed from the Fall,
they have become free for ever, knowing good from evil; to act for themselves,
and not to be acted upon, save it be by the punishment of the Law at the great
and last day, according to the Commandments which God hath given." This
fall was premeditated, for Peter tells us that we are "redeemed" from
this fall by "the precious blood of Christ, as of a Lamb without blemish
and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the
World, but was manifest in these last times for you." I Peter, 1:18-20.
Unto Adam the Lord said:
"Nevertheless, thou mayest choose for thyself, for it" (thy free
agency) "is given unto thee; but remember that I forbid it; For in the day
thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." Gen. 2:21-22, Inspired Version,
by Joseph Smith. The 1000 year-day of God's planet or Calendar was still in
force in Eden. No mortal man has lived beyond that period. Abraham 5:13. With
this freedom, Adam acted within His own rights. He then said unto Eve: "I
see, that must be so, I will partake that man may be, that he may .have
joy." This divinely cultured "Tree of knowledge of good and
evil," is God's way of giving His Spirit children their same Father in
Mortality - BUT with greater experience, hence more knowledge, with glorious
opportunities of accepting good and rejecting evil.
We can now visualize this mighty Michael,
"One who is like God," the actual Father of a host of Spirit children,
all seeking advancement thru mortality. He there stood before this mortal
"Tree of Knowledge," its fruit filled with red mortal blood substance,
the very thing He needed to make Himself of a dual nature - a Godman. This is a
temptation that the Gods cannot resist, and so: "He did eat." It is
obvious that this did not change His height or outward form. "And God"
(Michael, Jesus and Eve, (Moses 2:26-27) "said, Let us make man in our
image,.... So God created man in His own image, in the image of God
created He him; male and female created he them." Gen. 1: 26, 27. This
is very simple, when we get our eyes opened. The laws of Justice and Equality
require life for life. Thus the life of a God was required to atone for the
"Fall" of a God. God the Redeemer, was that Lamb.
page 8
THE SPIRIT CHILD - is who and what? In
Genesis 2:1-22 (Insp. Ver. by J. S.) we are told that God, during His six days
or periods of work-created all things spiritually and then rested the Seventh
period. In the 8th period, says He: "For I, the Lord God, created all
things of which I have spoken, spiritually, before they were naturally upon the face of the earth;
for I, the Lord God, had not caused it to rain upon the face of the earth. And
I, the Lord God, had created all the children of men, and not yet a man to till
the ground, for in HEAVEN created I them, and there was not yet flesh upon the
earth. neither in the water, neither in the air." The continuation of this
record says that man, beast and vegetation were all brought into mortality
during the 8th period. Hence this 8th period is symbolized in our first period
or day. Moses 3:5-9. Therefore when we observe the First Day, the Sunday
Sabbath, we commemorate the birth of Father Adam's mortality, and the birth of
our eternal life the opening of the First Tomb, at the very dawn of Sunday.
Matt. 28:1-7; Mk. 16:9.
Eliza R. Snow Smith (Wife of the Prophet
Joseph Smith), in "Women of Mormondom," chaps. 18 to 20, pp. 175-200,
wrote that Joseph Smith taught them in the Kirtland Temple: "that there has
been an eternal chain of creations coming down from the generations of the Gods
.... Adam is our Father and God. He is the God of the Earth. Adam is the
great Archangel of this creation. He is Michael. He is the Ancient of Days. He
is the Father of our Elder Brother, Jesus Christ - the Father of Him who shall
also come as Messiah to reign. He is the Father of the Spirits as well as the
tabernacles of the sons and daughters of man-Adam. Michael was a
Celestial, Resurrected Being, of another world. They came on purpose to
fall. They fell "that man might be." They ate of the Tree of mortal life
that they might again become mortal for their children's sake .
When Brigham Young proclaimed
to the nations that Adam was our Father and God, both in a mortal and a
celestial sense - he made the most important revelation ever oracled to the race
since the days of Adam himself. How become the mother of a world of mortals
except by herself AGAIN becoming mortal? How becoming mortal only by
transgressing the laws of immortality? How only by 'eating of the forbidden
fruit' - by partaking of the elements of a mortal earth." Paul referred to
the Father of our Spirits: "We have had Fathers of our flesh which
corrected us, shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of
Spirits and live?" Heb. 12:9.
The beloved Apostle Orson F. Whitney wrote
in his "Elias," p. 118 Mighty Michael the Archangel,
leader of the host of Heaven, became Adam and fell from an immortal to a
mortal state that he might become the progenitor of the human family."
page 9
Orson Pratt, in his "Seer", p.
23, says: "The Gods who dwell in the Heaven from which our spirits came,
are beings who have been redeemed from the grave in a world which existed before
the foundations of this earth were laid. They and the Heavenly body which they
now inhabit, were once in a fallen state." This same Apostle at p. 19,
says: "The First Born of all this great family of Spirits, holds, by virtue
of His birthright, a pre-eminence in all things. The oldest spirit or the
First Begotten, holds the Keys of salvation towards all the rest of the family
of Spirits." Again on p. 37-38, Orson Pratt tells us: "Celestial
Beings beget children composed of the fluid which circulates in their veins,
which is spiritual, therefore their children must be spirits, and not flesh and
bones. This is the origin of our spiritual organization in Heaven. The Spirits
of all mankind, destined for this earth, were begotten by a father, and born of
a mother in Heaven, long anterior to the formation of this world. The personages
of the father and mother of our spirits, had a beginning to their organization,
but the fulness of truth (which is God) that dwells in them, had no beginning .
Thus each God forms a world
for the accommodation of His own sons and daughters, who are sent forth in their
times and seasons and generations to be born into the same. The inhabitants of
each world are required to reverence, adore and worship their own personal
father, who dwells in the Heaven which they formerly inhabited. Each God
is 'The God of the Spirits of all flesh,' pertaining to the world which He
forms; and as He holds supreme dominion over them in Heaven, when He sends them
into a temporal or terrestrial world, he commits this dominion into the hands of
HIS sons and daughters, which inhabit the same." That is: He trains His
children to rule themselves.
Question: Is this spirit birth from our
parents in Heaven the very origin of our individuality? Orson Pratt, in the
above, says it is. In 1852 he referred to this origin as: "his first
existence in his first estate." Joseph Smith in his "King Follett
Discourse," tells us: "The intelligence of spirits had no
beginning." T. of P. J. S. p. 353. The Lord, in D. & C. 93:29, says:
"Intelligence, or the light of truth, was not created or made, neither
indeed can be." This spirit substance is called intelligences:
"because intelligence is their chief characteristic." Roberts. B. H.
Roberts, in footnote under "The King Follett Discourse," says:
"It appears to be very clear that the Prophet had in mind the INTELLIGENCE,
when he said 'the Soul-the mind of man-the immortal spirit,' was not created or
made, and he did not have reference to the Spirit as a Begotten child of God. It
was the doctrine of the Prophet, and is of the Church, that the Spirits of men
are begotten sons and daughters of God." Roberts tells us: "that he
page 10
(Joseph) uses the words 'Intelligence' and
'Spirit' interchangeably."
In other words the scientific laws of
mathematics, gravitation etc. are here classed as intelligences. The plant and
the animal kingdoms do not and cannot make use of them. But the brain matter of
both God and Man has this higher capacity. The organized substances within the
body of a Spirit child-originate at its spirit birth, but the laws of science
that this child makes use of throughout eternity, have no beginning. I again
quote the Prophet in his King Follett Discourse: "Intelligence is eternal
and exists upon a self-existent principle. It is a spirit from age to age, and
there is no creation about it. All the minds and spirits that God ever sent into
the world are susceptible of enlargement." T. of P. J. S., p. 354. This
divine spirit child grows, when he accepts these eternal laws of truth. (The
infidel's God.) Our first Estate began at our Spirit birth; our Second Estate
began with mortality. Abraham (3:26) tells us: "And they who keep their
First Estate shall be added upon, and they who keep their Second Estate
shall have glory added upon their heads for ever and ever."
B. H. Roberts, in his "Mormon
Doctrine of Deity," p. 259, tells us: "The eternal intelligence of
man, the 'EGO' was not created or made, 'neither indeed can be'." (Dict.,
"Absolute Ego: the non-individual being, neither subject nor object.")
We are told by our Lord, (D. & C. 93:36): "The Glory of God is
intelligence, or, in other words, light and truth." This means that it is
not his beautiful body that we worship - but it is the mass of intelligences that
He has absorbed and made use of in our behalf, for our future glory as well as
His. Jesus, when He appeared unto the brother of Jared, said: "Behold, this
body, which ye now behold, is the body of My spirit;" (says Roberts)
"the house, the tenement (of that uncreated intelligence) which had been
begotten of the Father a spirit," (child) p. 13, "Seventy's Course in
Theology, 4th year," lesson 3. Ether 3:14-17. In summing up we have the
real origin of man, beginning at his spirit birth, a divinely begotten child,
which is the beginning of his First Estate.
A GOD.
I now ask the question: What qualifications are divinely required to become a GOD, the father and mother of Spirit Children? You may rebel at the answer, but it comes direct from God. Orson Pratt, in "The Seer" p. 44, says: "Here was a marriage in which the Lord in person officiated-a marriage between two immortal beings. Both Adam and Eve were so organized that death had no dominion over their bodies; they were capable of living forever and ever. Death was not in the organization; it came into the world by transgression. They did not obey this command while in their immortal state, they fell from immortality to mortality,
page 11
after which they began to multiply their
fallen species upon the earth. If they had complied with the command before the
fall, it would have been impossible for them to have raised up children of
mortal flesh and bones, subject to death. Mortal children could not spring from
immortal parents." p. 45. (They would have been spirits.) After Adam and
Eve had placed red mortal blood in their veins from that certain Tree, Eve said
to Adam: "Were it not for our transgression we never should have had
seed." Moses 5:11.
For man to become a Michael-Adam God, the
father of a host of spirit children, he must in his mortality, enter into the
"New and Everlasting Covenant of Marriage." The Lord, in D. & C.
132:6-7, says: "it was instituted for the fulness of My Glory; and he that
receiveth a fulness thereof, must and shall abide the law, or he shall be
damned, sayeth the Lord." All other forms of marriage, that are not
"sealed by the Holy Spirit" by the Lord's "anointed" become
void, and "have an end when men are dead." Now then, when we enter
into a single Temple Marriage, and it is not made plural in due time, it becomes
a covenant broken marriage, for that eternal covenant specifies plurality. I
quote in part: "you to be her lawful and wedded husband, for time and for
all eternity, WITH a covenant and promise on your part, THAT you will fulfill
ALL the laws, rites and ordinances, pertaining to this holy matrimony in the New
and Everlasting Covenant," etc.
I now quote D. & C. 131, God's Law:
"In the Celestial Glory there are three Heavens or degrees; And in order to
obtain the highest, a man must enter into this Order of the Priesthood; [meaning
the New and Everlasting Covenant of marriage]; And if he does not he cannot
obtain it. He may enter into the other, but that is the end of his kingdom: he
cannot have an increase." Verse 4,
D. & C. 132, reads: "For behold,
I reveal unto you a New and an Everlasting Covenant; and if ye abide NOT that
Covenant, then are ye damned; for no one can reject this Covenant, and be
permitted to enter into my glory." True obedience unto this Law leads to
Godhood. Verse 20 reads: ". . . because they continue; . . . Then shall
they be Gods, because they have all power, and the Angels are subject unto
them." I now quote two statements from Brigham Young, the Lord's
mouth-piece: (1) "I have never yet preached a sermon and sent it out to the
children of men, that they may not call it scripture." Deseret News, Jan.
29, 1870. (2) "The only men who become Gods, even the Sons of God, are
those who enter into Polygamy. Others attain unto A Glory." J. of D.
11:268-9; 22:616.
The righteous Apostle Erastus Snow, in
Council meeting held Oct. 14, 1882 (recorded in Wilford Woodruff's Journal; also
in "Supplement to New and Everlasting Covenant of Marriage," p. 36, by
page 12
Musser), he, standing before the
Presidency and the "Twelve", stated: "Joseph Smith said that the
Parable that Jesus spoke of, that the man who had one talent and hid it in the
earth was the man who had but one wife and would not take another, would have
her taken from him and given to one who had more." In our Church
"Historical Record," Vol. 6:221-2, we read verbatim this same sermon
on these Ten Talents and its interpretation by Joseph Smith, in affidavit form,
by Bishop Benjamin F. Johnson, an ear witness, a body guard to, and agent for
Joseph Smith. He was also a personal friend to Pres. Joseph F. Smith. Let us now
consider the work and Glory of those who fully live this divine form of
marriage.
Brigham Young at a special Priesthood
Conference held in the old Tabernacle Aug. 28, 1852, and recorded in Mill. Star
15, p. 17, 1853 Supplement, said: "After men have got their exaltations,
and their Crowns; have become Gods, even the Sons of God; are made King of kings
and Lord of lords;" (having resurrected Celestial bodies, A Man and his
Wives.) "they have the power then of propagating their species in Spirit,
and that is the first of their operations with regards to organizing a world.
Power is then given to them to organize the elements, and then commence the
organization of tabernacles." (For their Spirit Children.) "How can
they do it? Have they to go to that earth? Yes, an Adam will have to go there,
and he cannot do without Eve; he must have Eve to commence the work of
Generation, and they will go into the Garden, and continue to eat and drink of
the fruits of the corporeal world, until this grosser matter is diffused
sufficiently" (evidently not fully - Alma 11:45) "thru their Celestial
Bodies, to enable them, according to the established laws, to produce mortal
tabernacles for THEIR spiritual children. This is a key for you. The faithful
will become Gods." (Says Brigham Young.) The future reward of truly living
this Marriage Law is beyond mortal man's conception.
I now quote from page 21, of this same
special Priesthood Conference, the learned Apostle Orson Pratt, speaking:
"Notice this last expression, 'the inhabitants thereof, are begotten sons
and daughters unto God; (meaning the different worlds that have been created and
made.) Notice, this does not say, that God, whom we serve and worship, was
actually the Father Himself, in his own person, of all these sons and daughters
of the different worlds; but they 'are begotten sons and daughters unto
God'." The term Begotten includes children by birth and adoption in this
creating work of the Father and Son. (Mosiah 5:7). This system of adopting
Spirit children from your own descendants greatly reduces their time of waiting
for their mortal or Second Estate. It also greatly reduces the
page 13
time for Michaels to become Adams. L.D.S.
teachings are: "that only resurrected and glorified beings can become
parents of Spirit offspring.
I now quote the Brigham Young master
sermon on the Michael Adam God doctrine, of Apr. 9, 1852, recorded in J. of D.
1:50-51; also printed on Nov. 26, 1853, in the Millennial Staff, Vol. 15, pp.
769770. "Our Father in Heaven begat all the Spirits that ever were or ever
will be upon this earth; and they were bores spirits in the eternal world. Then
the Lord by His power and wisdom organized the mortal tabernacle of man. We were
made first spiritual and afterwards temporal. Now hear it, O inhabitants of the
earth, Jew and Gentile, Saint and Sinner! When our Father Adam" (Michael)
"came into the Garden of Eden. He came into it with a Celestial Body, and
brought Eve, ONE of His wives, with Him. He helped to make and organize this
world. He is Michael the Archangel, the Ancient of Days! about whom holy men
have written and spoken.
"HE is our Father and our God, and the only
God with whom we have to do" (this means the highest, Moses 1:6).
"Every man upon the earth, professing Christians or non-professing, must
hear it, and will know it sooner or later. They came here, organized the raw
material, and arranged in their order the herbs of the field, the seed was
brought from another sphere, and planted in this earth. The thistle, the thorn, did not appear until after the earth was cursed. When Adam and Eve had eaten
of the forbidden fruit, their bodies became mortal from its effects, and
therefore their offspring were mortal.
"When the Virgin Mary conceived the
child Jesus, the Father had begotten Him in His own likeness. He was not
begotten by the Holy Ghost. And who is the FATHER? HE is the first of the human
family; and when he (Michael) took a tabernacle, it was begotten by his Father
in Heaven, after the same manner as the Tabernacles of Cain. Abel and the rest
of the earth was organized by three distinct characters, namely Eloheim,
Yahovah and Michael. What a learned idea! Jesus, our Elder Brother, was
begotten in the flesh by the same character that was in the Garden of Eden, and
who is our Father in Heaven." (Adam) "Now, let all who may hear these
doctrines, pause before they make light of them, or treat them with
indifference, for they will prove their salvation or damnation. Treasure
up these things in your hearts."
Brigham Young introduced this
"key" sermon on account of said he, the "Elders of Israel having
conflicting views." For 25 years or more he taught this same doctrine. Our
modern Brethren, in their desperate efforts to kill this doctrine-claim Brigham
misquoted himself. Let us now compare Brigham Young's 1852 sermon with his of
page 14
Oct. 23, 1853, J. of D. 2:6, and Apr. 20,
1856. I quote him: "You believe Adam was made of the dust of this earth.
This I do not believe." (Now his Apr. 1856 Sermon) "Yet it is not so;
and when we learn the truth we shall see and understand that he" (Michael
Adam) "helped to make this world and was the Chief Manager in that
operation. He was the person who brought the animals and the seeds from other
planets to this world, and brought a wife with him and stayed here. Adam was
made from the dust of AN earth, BUT not from the dust of this earth. He was made
as you and I are made, and no person was ever made upon any other
principle." (In other words, Adam, when he was a child, in his previous
mortal world, ate carrots etc. out of the earth, from his mortal mother's hand.)
J. of D. 3:319.
We now come to Brigham Young's Oct. 7,
1857 sermon, recorded in J. of D. 5:331-2. "Some have grumbled because I
believe our God to be so near to us as Father Adam. There are many who know that
doctrine to be true. Where was Michael in the creation of this earth? Did he
have a mission to the earth? He did. Where was he? In the Grand Council, and
performed the mission assigned him there." It was in this Grand Council
where "The Heads of the Gods appointed ONE GOD for us," Michael the
Archangel. Orson Pratt, in J. of D. 13:187, said: While "Adam is called an
Archangel-yet he is a God."
On June 8, 1873, Brigham Young, in a
sermon, which was published in Deseret News on June 14, 1873, said: "We say
that Father Adam came here and helped to make the Earth. Who is he? He is
Michael, a great Prince, and it was said to him by Eloheim, 'Go ye and make an
earth.' What is the great mystery about it? He came and FORMED the EARTH. Adam came here and got it up in shape. The mystery in this,
is only to
those who are ignorant. Father Adam came here, and then they brought his wife.
'Well,' says one, 'why was Adam called Adam?' He was the first man on the earth,
and its FRAMER AND MAKER. He, with the help of his brethren, brought it into
existence. Then he said, 'I want my children who are in the Spirit world to come
and live here. I once dwelt upon an Earth something like this, in a mortal
state. I was faithful, I received my crown and exaltation. I have the privilege
of extending my work, and to its increase there will be no end. I want my
children that were born to me in the Spirit world to come here and take
tabernacles of flesh that their spirits may have a house, a tabernacle or a
dwelling place as mine has,' and where is the mystery?"
Brigham Young, before his death, dictated
to Wilford Woodruff the wording for every ordinance that was then being
symbolized and performed in our holy Temples. Then he proofread it and said:
page 15
"Now, there you have the pattern of
all the ordinances or Endowments for every Temple we shall build, until the
coming of the Son of Man." Woodruff stated that this written account was
"for our guidance in all future time." Now those who have read this
written Temple guide, well know that Brigham Young also preached the same
Michael Adam God doctrine in the Tabernacle and Wards. See "Truth"
2:34-35. This confirms that Pres. Brigham Young preached the same doctrine in
all his sermons.
With our original teachings of the
Creation and Temple Endowments, and this written account at full agreement, we
can proceed on a solid foundation. There we are told that Adam and Eve, the
Father and Mother of our Spirits, entered Eden with Celestial Resurrected
bodies; that "The Heads of the Gods" gave the command (Symbolized by
Elohim); that the great Jehovah was senior in Priesthood to Michael, i.e.,
Michael's Christ and supervisor in the creation of our Earth; BUT that Michael
was the main Creator. This very story
is recorded in ancient Indian
hieroglyphics. In "Indian Legends," p. 83, by Pres. James W. LeSueur,
(of the Mesa Arizona Temple) we
read: "Two great Beings made the
world. When this was done, the Elder Creator went up to Heaven and left his
younger brother alone on the earth." Joseph Smith referred to this Elder
Brother, Michael's Christ or Jehovah, in these
words: "Christ is the Great High Priest; Adam next." T. of P. J. S., p.
158. It is now obvious that our Jehovah, Jesus Christ, is the "First
Born" of our Father Michael's spirit children; and "the last,"
the "Only Begotten; " of Michael Adam God in the flesh, after His
ordination to the full Priesthood degree of God. Rev. 1:11; D. & C. 110:1-4.
The words of Jesus are now clear, says He:
"My Father is greater than I." Jn. 14:28. "My doctrine is not
mine, but His that sent Me." In. 7:16; "Behold, I am Jesus Christ the
Son of the living God, who created the Heavens and the earth." D. & C.
14:9. To Mary, said He: "Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my
Father: but go to my Brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and
your Father; and to my God, and your God." Jn. 20:17. Heber C. Kimball
wrote in his Journal: "The Lord told me that Jesus Christ was the Son of
Adam." The martyr Stephen (Acts 7:55-56) and the Prophet Joseph Smith both
saw our Saviour seated on the right hand side of the Father (D. & C. 76:20).
This indicates His junior position to the Father, which is only one of many
proofs of there being two Christs or Jehovahs. One supervised Michael in his
creation work, being Michael's Christ; the junior being Michael's "First
Born," our "Elder Brother," Jesus Christ, who assisted His Father
in all His work. The two Christs sometimes become "mouth" for each
other. Our Jesus Christ, in D. & C. 27:11, refers to His Father as
"Michael or
page 16
Adam, the Father of all. the Prince of
all, the Ancient of Days." This included Himself.
Due to the fact that our Father Michael
has clothed His Son Jesus Christ with ALL authority "in heaven and in
earth" (Matt. 28:18), He, Jesus, is often referred to as the Father;
"I am come in My Father's name," says He, Jn. 5:43. He also acts as
"mouth"' for His Father. Ether 3:6-16. On title page of Book of
Mormon, Jesus is referred to as "the eternal God." In Mosiah 16:15,
Jesus is called "the very Eternal Father." In I Nephi 13:40-41, Jesus
is called "the Son of the Eternal Father." Verse 41 says: "For
there is one God and one Shepherd over all the earth." In Moroni, chap. 5,
all is made clear: "O God, the Eternal Father, we ask thee, in the name of
thy Son Jesus Christ, to bless and sanctify this wine," etc.
We now come to one of Jesus Christ's
statements that may require an explanation. He said: "neither Adam, your
Father, whom I created." D. & C. 29:34. This is very true indirectly;
but, it was Michael who willfully fell and became Adam, for a fixed purpose, as
previously explained. This statement involves Adam's dual Priesthood position.
He was truly Michael, our Father God---"One who is like God;" but now
Adam (a priesthood office), also a model mortal righteous man. In this capacity,
position and Office, our Father God truly set the personal example for His own
Spirit children to follow in their new, but dangerous mortal life. O, the mighty
love of such a glorious Father. "Adam was not deceived" (I Tim. 2:14),
in other words, he knew himself and did the very thing He came to the earth to
do. He was rebaptized, received and taught the very Gospel that He had fully
committed unto His Son, Jesus Christ, before the earth's birth into mortality.
We read in Exodus 6:3: "And I appeared unto Abraham, unto
Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty; but by my name Jehovah was I
not known to them." It was Jesus who gave the Two Sets of Stones unto Moses
(Ex. 34, Insp. Ver.). The Higher Law, Gospel and Priesthood was connected with
the First Set; the Lesser Law on the Second (Pres. John Taylor). This Lesser Law
was fulfilled at Christ's Coming. To the Nephites, in A.D. 34, Jesus said:
"but the Law which was given unto Moses, hath an end in Me." III Nephi
15:1-8.
With this brief sketch, we can now
visualize Michael bringing His Gospel into mortality. But all this required
immortal Michael becoming mortal Adorn. This, He could not do, without His Son
Jesus making the atonement for the "FALL" of His Father. Peter tells
us that we were "redeemed.....with the precious blood of Christ, as
of a Lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before
the foundation of the world, but was manifest
page 17
in these last times for you," I Peter
1:18-20. With this pre-mortal sacred agreement entered into, made the FALL of
Michael. for the sake of Hs Spirit children, possible and VERY desirable. Ether
3:14-17. Hence Jesus truly said: It was I
who made (it possible for you to also have) "Adam" for our common
Father in the flesh; i.e., It was I who made it possible and desirable for
Father Michael to become Father Adam.
The making of mortality possible for His
own Spirit brothers and sisters ALSO created the vital necessity of bringing
another mortal world into existence. So again it is indirectly true when we say
that it is and was thru the Office and the Atonement made by the Christ of each
world that additional worlds are needed and created. BUT the Father (Michael
the Archangel) was and is the main Creator. He arches another world to the great
Milky Way. In the Fifth "Lecture on Faith" by Joseph Smith, we read:
"Was it by the Father and the Son that all things were created and made
that were created and made? It was." The Christ Son makes it possible and
necessary for another world to be created, but it is the Father who is the main
Creator. In D. & C. 76:23-24 and Jn. 1:1-14 we also find that it is thru and
due to this great interlocking work, of the Father and the Son, that worlds are
created. Verse 24 reads: "That by Him, and thru Him, and of Him the worlds
are and were created." The Father's Christ supervised the Creating, the
Father the Creator, His Son Jesus Christ is the main Assistant. In the L.D.S.
most sacred ceremonies, they are told: "This is Michael, who helped create
the earth."
Orson Pratt, in his Tabernacle sermon of
Nov. 12, 1876, confirmed this doctrine: "When He (Jesus) was begotten of
the Father among the great family of Spirits, He became, by his (senior)
birthright, the great Creator. GOD, thru Him, created not only this little world
. . . but by Him the worlds were made and created .... Why by Him? Because He
had the birthright, He, being the oldest of His Father's family, and this
birthright entitles Him, not only to create worlds, but to become the Redeemer
of those worlds" This was reprinted in full, by B. H. Roberts, in
"Mormon Doctrine of Deity," pp. 266-284. It is now clear how our
Father works with and thru His children. God the Father said to Moses: "by
the Son I created them, which is mine Only Begotten." Moses 1:33. In other
words: if no son will take the office and duties of a Christ-then all Spirit
children remain in Spirit-cad new worlds will never be. In this manner, the
office of Christ creates worlds. B. H. Roberts tells us: "The chief
characteristic of the First Personage of the Godhead, appears to be that of
'Father; 'Creator' . " "Seventy's Course, Fifth Year, Lesson 10."
It was Michael who drove Lucifer out of
Heaven. Revelation
page 18
12:7-8 says: "And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels" (children) "fought against the Dragon; and the Dragon fought an his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven." The next great and last battle between Michael and Satan will be at the end of the "Little Season" that follows the Millennial Reign. There, Michael alone will fight Satan and his host by sending down fire "out of Heaven, and devoured them." Rev. 20:7-10. Again from D. & C. 88:111-115, we read: "And then he shall be loosed for a little season, that he may gather together his armies; And Michael.....shall gather together his armies, even the host of heaven.....And then cometh the battle of the Great God; and the Devil and his armies shall be cast away into their own place, that they shall not have power over the Saints any more at all; For Michael shall fight their battles, and shall overcome him who seeketh the throne of Him who sitteth upon the throne, even the Lamb." Michael is here called "the Great God," (the Supreme Father). The fact that Michael has done all for us, is proof that Michael is OUR God.
JOSEPH SMITH.
Let us now review the
Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith on Michael Adam God doctrine. By the way
who is Joseph? I answer: He is the Personality in the office of the Holy Ghost.
He "is a personage of Spirit." D. & C. 130:22. A personage is one
who represents something. That is, He is a person, and He occupies the Third
place in the Godhead; "A Personage of Spirit. " He presides
over the Holy Spirit or Ghost, a Spirit substance, a communication system-that
contains the Mind, Will and Power of God. In III Nephi 28:11, we read: "And
the Holy Ghost beareth record of the
Father and Me; and the Father giveth the Holy Ghost unto the children of men,
because of me." (To assist me.) Joseph is also the personal "witness
and Testator."
In Joseph Smith's master sermon, to some
20,000 Scants at the Apr. 1844 Conference, "The King Follett
Discourse," recorded in T. of P. J. S., pp. 342-362, he said: "But I
am learned, and know more than all the world put together. The Holy Ghost does,
anyhow, and he is within me, and comprehends more than all the world: and I will
associate myself with him." p. 350. This agrees with Joseph Smith's
statement: "Would to God. Brethren, I could tell you who I am! Would to God
I could tell you what I know!" Life of H. C. K., p. 333. Again says Joseph:
"And He (God) will make me be God to you in His stead." H. of C.
6:313. On June 16, 1844, Joseph Smith said: "The Holy Ghost was a distinct
personage AND a Spirit." H. of C. 6:474.
At pg. 157, Joseph Smith tells us:
"He (Adam) is the Father of the human family, AND presides over the spirits
of all men, and all that have had the Keys must stand before Him in this Grand
Coun-
page 19
cil." H. of C. 3:386-7. This
statement places the authority of Michael Adam above the Priesthood Keys held by
our Jesus Christ; it also places the Spirit body of Jesus Christ under Adam's
authority. For Adam to preside over the Spirits of all men---would require the
Fatherhood of Michael--- who became Adam. Again from same page, says Joseph :
"The" (P. H.) "Keys have to be brought from Heaven whenever the
Gospel is sent. When they are revealed from Heaven, it is by Adam's
authority." H. of C. 111:386-7. This places Christ's dispensation, the 6th,
under Adam. At page 167 we read: "He is Michael, because He was the first
and Father of all, not only by progeny, but the first to hold the spiritual
blessings ....He (Adam) holds the Keys of the
dispensation of the fulness of times; i.e., the dispensation of all the times
have been and will be revealed through Him from the beginning to Christ, and
from Christ to the end of the dispensations that are to be revealed. 'Having
made known unto us the mystery of His Will, according to His good pleasure which
He hath purposed in Himself; that in the Dispensation of the fulness of times He
might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in Heaven and
which are on earth; even in Him'." This entire quotation enthrones Michael
to be God the First, the Father of all Spirits, and our Jesus Christ to be God
the Second. At page 169, also H. of C. 4:209: "This, then, is the nature of
the Priesthood; every man holding the Presidency of his dispensation, and one
man holding the Presidency of them all, even Adam; and Adam receiving his
Presidency and authority from the Lord," (Jehovah the Great, Michael's
Christ), "but cannot receive a fulness until Christ" (our Jesus
Christ) "shall present the Kingdom to the Father, which shall be at the end
of the last dispensation." This will take place when all Priesthood
Commissions are called in. We here have the two Christs, Jehovah the Great,
Michael's Christ; and Jesus Jehovah Christ, Michael's son. It also enthrones
Michael Adam over the dispensation of Jesus Christ, from A. D. 30 to 1836.
At page 190, we read: "An Everlasting
Covenant was made between three Personages" (our Trinity) "before the
organization of this earth, and relates to their dispensation of things to men
on the earth; these personages, according to Abraham's record, are called God
the first, the Creator; God the second, the Redeemer; and God the third, the
Witness or Testator." MSS.; See p. 312. From this statement we are gain
vital points, namely: God the redeemer is junior to God the Creator, Michael;
that the personality of God the third, the Holy Spirit, comes into mortality
after Christ's Dispensation. The Christ dispensation was the sixth, and there
are only seven. Hence Joseph Smith presides over the Seventh, which makes him
God the Third, the "Witness or Testator." God the Father and Son
appeared unto Him in His first Vision. This statement from the Sealed Writings
page 20
of Abraham, completely overthrows the
basic arguments and equilibrium of the L. D. S. Church's modern teachings on the
Godhead.
Because it further proves that God the
Creator was to have His turn FIRST of living among and teaching the children of
men. It is obvious that Michael's Father God, "Eloheim," has never
lived out a dispensation in mortality among men on this earth, hence "Eloheim"
cannot be our Father God, or the main Creator. Abraham's statement places God
the Creator above God the Redeemer; therefore our Redeemer is not the main
Creator.
At page 158, T. of P. J. S.: "The
Father called all Spirits before Him at the creation of man, and organized them.
He (Adam) is the Head, and was told to multiply. The Keys were first given to
him, and by Him to others. He will have to give an account of His Stewardship,
and they to Him." H. of C. 3:387. The Father of Spirits is here identified
as being Adam; therefore he is our Father God, regardless of Council decisions.
The fact that these Spirit Children existed prior to Adam, and that all
authority was given unto Adam over all Spirits coming into mortality. is
positive evidence that He is Father Michael Adam, the supreme God over the
Spirit and Mortal bodies of our race.
Adam God is under the supervision of His
Christ, Jehovah the Great, at all times. Our Christ will report His mission
completed to Father Adam, and Father Adam will do likewise to Jehovah the Great.
All this will soon take place at "the Valley of Adam-ondi-Ahman." The
final blessings will then be pronounced upon Father Adam God by His Jehovah
Saviour. Now, with His probation mission finished and approved, He will
immediately set His Hand to make all things ready on earth for the glorious
coming of His Son Jesus in "Glory." We here have the identity and
workings of the two separate Jehovahs, and Michael Adam as God.
The Lord, in section 116, D. & C.
says: "Adam-ondi-Ahman, because, said he, it is the place where Adam shall
come to visit his people, or the Ancient of Days shall sit, as spoken of by
Daniel." It was in this "Valley of Adam-ondi-Ahman" that Jehovah
the Great came to Adam and his High priest sons, whom Adam had gathered that He
might pronounce his last blessings upon his posterity. This took place when Adam
was 927 years old, just 3 years before He returned to Heaven, and somewhere ate
of the "Tree of Life," which restored His immortality. The fruit of
same removed all forms of mortality; it being the opposite to the "Tree of
Good and Evil." At this great ancient Council, Adam's Christ came, blessed,
named Him Michael, and ordained Him to the Office of God. Hence this Valley in
Daviess County, Missouri, was there named: "the Valley of Adam-ondi-Ahman,"
i.e., in the Valley where "it was said" Adam is God. (Ahman, God in
the Adamic tongue.)
page 21
"The Lord God, the Holy One of
Zion" (Michael's Christ), "who hath established the foundations of
Adam-ondi-Ahman; Who hath appointed Michael (Adam) your prince, and established
his feet, and set Him upon High, and given unto him the Keys of Salvation under
the counsel and direction of the Holy One, who is without beginning of days, or
end of life." We here have a confirmation of Adam's ordination to the
Priesthood office of God, and the conferring of the Keys of Salvation upon Him.
The a very fact that this "Holy One" is elsewhere called "the
Lord," "One like the Son of Man" (Dan. 7:13), who "called
Him Michael, the Prince, the Archangel, . . . Adam," is proof that he was
the Jehovah Christ of a previous world, i.e., Michael's Christ. (D. & C.
107:53-55.` Joseph Smith confirms this enthronement. He handed down thru our
Holy services, in Holy places, the words of this "Great Jehovah" unto
Michael Adam: "I will give you dominion over the earth, and I will make you
Lord of the whole earth." Joseph also referred to Michael's Christ's future
coming to this same Valley: He shall "come to the Ancient of Days and shall
give to Him dominion and Glory, and issue a Decree that all people shall serve
and obey Him." Contributor 7:286.
At page 345-6 in T. of the P. J. S, we
read: "God Himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits
enthroned in yonder heavens! That is the great secret .... He was once a man
like us; yea, that God Himself, the Father of us all, dwelt on an earth, the
same as Jesus Christ Himself did." At page 385-6, H. of C., Vol. 3:
"The Priesthood was first given to Adam; he obtained the First Presidency,
and held the Keys of it from generation to generation. He obtained it in the
Creation, BEFORE the world was formed." (This refers to Michael, the Father of our
Spirits.) "He had dominion given Him over every living creature. He is
Michael the Archangel, spoken of in the Scriptures." We here have Michael
as our supreme Father God-so said Joseph Smith, God the Third. Question: Can any
thinking man deny Michael's supremacy?
In a specially prepared sermon on the
Resurrection, read in the Logan Temple on June 2, 1888, and printed in Dec. 29,
1888, Deseret Weekly, Vol. 38:19-27, by the learned Joseph E. Taylor, of the
Salt Lake Stake Presidency, a very important question was asked. "Did Adam
lie in the grave until he was redeemed therefrom thru the death and resurrection
of the Only Begotten?" Taylor then asked the question: "Who was the
Saviour of the world; and what relation did He bear to our Father Adam?" He
then quoted Brigham Young's Apr. 9, 1852 Adam God Sermon as further proof that
our Jesus Christ was the Actual Son of Adam God. Taylor then quoted that part
of` Joseph Smith's Apr. 1844 "King Follett Discourse - stating
page 22
"that God Himself, the Father of us
all, dwelt on OUR Earth the same as Jesus Christ did;" that both the Father
and the Son had the power to resurrect themselves: " 'As the Father hath
power (life) in Himself, so hath the Son (life) power'-to do what? Why, what the
Father did .... Jesus, what are you going to do? 'To lay down my life, as My
Father did, and take it up again.'... What did Jesus do? Why: I do the things I
saw My Father do when worlds came rolling into existence." (Jn. 5:19-26;
10:18.) T. of the P. J. S., pp. 346-7.. ("Then the Father hath some day
laid down His life and taken it again." H. of C. 5:426.)
Elder Taylor continues: "I think
these two quotations from such a reliable authority fully solve the question as
to the relationship existing between Father Adam and the Saviour of the
World" (Father & Son), "and proves beyond question the power that
Adam possessed in regard to taking His body again after laying it down"
(from mortal to immortal---'which power He never could have attained unless He
had received first a resurrection" (in a previous mortal world) "from
the grave to a condition of immortality. We further say that this power was not
forfeited when as a Celestial Being He voluntarily partook of the forbidden
fruit, and thereby rendered His body mortal in order that He might become the
Father of mortal tabernacles, as He was already the Father of immortal
Spirits---thus giving opportunity to the offspring of His own begetting to pass
thru the ordeals necessary to prepare them for a resurrection from the dead, a
Celestial Glory. All that Father Adam did upon this earth, from the time that He
took up His abode in the Garden of Eden, was done for His posterity's
sake." Adam and Christ's Lives were the most pure.
All this leads up to Adam's last act. He
is now fully justified in returning to the "Tree of Life." It being
the exact opposite to the "Tree of Good and Evil." So He did eat of
its fruit, and in due time freed His body from all foams of blood and mortal
weaknesses. Thus He restored or resurrected His body from the very door of
mortal death, at the age of 927-930, to Life Eternal. Now the Lord is our
witness: as He placed the "Flaming Sword" around this "Tree of
Life," in Eden, He said: "lest he put forth his hand, and take also of
the Tree of Life, and eat, and live For EVER." Gen. 3: 22-24. The
learned Apostle Parley P. Pratt, in his
answer on final restorations, said: "This will restore the Ten Tribes of
Israel; and also bring again Zion, even Enoch's City. It will bring back the
'Tree of Life' which is in the midst of the Paradise of God; that you and I may
partake of it." Mill. Star, 1:258. John the Revelator tells us: "To
him that overcometh will I give to eat of the 'Tree of Life,' which is in the
midst of the Paradise of God." Rev. 2:7. Generations of Mortal beings will
continue thru-out the Millennial Reign---but there will be
page 23
no death or the grave. D. 6 C. 63:49-51;
101:28-32. Now if the children can partake of this "Tree of Life" and
celestialize their mortal bodies, during this 1000 years, why not the Father?
Only the unlearned laugh at these holy things. Enoch says: "Its fruit shall
be for food to the Elect: it shall be transplanted to the Holy Temple of the
Lord . . . And they shall live a long life on Earth." Zion, Missouri.
Orson Pratt, in Seer, p. 88, says: "
'The Tree of Life.' This Tree was calculated to produce endless life; it would
change mortality into immortality."
Let us also consider the findings and
testimony of Bishop Heber Bennion, a brother-in-law to Heber J. Grant (the star
hater of this Adam God doctrine). "It seems strange that people will
believe that 'as man now is, God once was, and that as God now is, man may be;'
that 'God is an exalted man and still repudiate the Doctrine of Adam God . . . .
It seems presumptuous indeed for them to ever aspire to be the God of anything,
if Adam cannot be a God of the world He created and peopled. If a man is not to
come the God of His own posterity, what will he be the God of? .... The whole
superstructure for a plurality of the Gods is base upon this doctrine of Adam
God, and must stand or fall together." Supplement to Gospel Problems, pp.
8, 9; Also in "Michael, Our Father and Our God," by Musser, pp. 27-28.
Franklin D. Richards, of the Quorum of the Twelve, and Church Historian, truly
confirmed allthese things, in
his day. He confirmed the Apr. 1852 Brigham Young Adam-God Sermon. He declared
that our Jesus Christ is the actual Spirit and Mortal Son of Michael Adam God;
that Michael Adam is the
Supreme God and Father of the Spirits of our mortal world. Mill. Star 17: 194-6.
I now cite the "Sayings of Joseph the
Prophet," as recorded in the Journal of Anson Call, a righteous man, an ear
witness with several others, from the lips of Joseph Smith. This written
statement was obtained by the righteous Patriarch Whitaker, a personal friend of
Joseph Smith and, at a later date, delivered same verbatim, to his son, our
present Patriarch John M. Whitaker. The latter, on Nov. 3, 1948, fully confirmed
same to the writer. I briefly quote: Certain Spirits who feared to face our
mortal conditions said: "Father, we have fought Satan face to face here in
the Spirit World and have helped to cast him down there, and now to go down and
fight him again face to face, we are afraid we shall never return to Thy
presence and would prefer a lesser degree of Glory and go to some other of your
creations where we are sure of returning:" (Now who knows but what these
Spirits will be born after this great mortal test is over, i.e., during the
Millennial Reign?)
"Now regarding Adam: He came here
from another planet an immortalized Being and brought his wife, Eve, with him
and by eating of the fruit of this earth became subject to death and decay,
page 24
and He became of the earth, earthy, was
made mortal and subject to death .... In the Grand Council in Heaven there were
some Spirits that did not take part in the great Rebellion at all. They were
called Neutral Spirits. They were on the fence, and when Cain killed his brother
Abel, God placed a skin of blackness upon him as the first of Adam's race, and
thru the posterity of Ham this seed was propagated thru the Flood; and the
neutral Spirits in heaven possess these black bodies." (Preserved by
Patriarch John M. Whitaker; who printed by permission, and circulated, several
hundred copies to Church Students, in Utah.)
Mortal man must look to his Gods for his
resurrection. Who and what are they? There are only two Resurrections, the First
and the Second. The First began with Jesus Christ in person, in A.D. 34, then
followed a general resurrection which included all Spirits who were, at that
time, prepared. Since A.D. 34, only those who are especially prepared from time
to time are permitted to share this blessing.
This First resurrection will soon again
become general at "Christ's coming in Glory;" this will be its ending.
This, the First, is called the "resurrection of Life;" the Second:
"the resurrection of damnation," in. 5:29. The Christ has charge of
the First; the Father of the Second. "Jesus said unto her, I am the
resurrection and the Life." in. 11:25. The Second will take place at the
end of the world, 7000 A.D.
John, in Rev. 20:5-6 says: "But the
rest of the dead lived not again until the 1000 years were finished. This is the
First resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the First
resurrection."
Christ's authority to resurrect the
Just comes from His Father, Michael, the Archangel: "For the Lord Himself
shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the Voice" (authority)
"of the Archangel, and with the trump of God" (Himself - God the
Second): "and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive
and remain, shall be caught up together with them in the CLOUDS, to meet the
Lord in the air." I Thes. 4:16-17. Jesus Christ, in D. & C. 29:26-28,
tells us: "Verily I say unto you, before the earth shall pass away, Michael, mine Archangel" (mine
Father), "shall sound HIS trump, and then shall ALL the dead awake, for
their graves shall be opened, and they shall come forth; yea even All."
This last resurrection is for the wicked and those who have atoned for their
sins. Michael, being their Father, is more obligated to resurrect His own wicked
children, than their Elder Brother, whom they have turned their backs upon.
Hence we read: "For as the Father raiseth up the dead" (all types),
"and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth WHOM He will" (the
honest in heart). Jn. 5:21. All this is proof, of a preponderant nature, that
our Father Michael is senior to His Son, Jesus, the Christ of our world.
Levi, the son of Jacob, of old (whose
dying "Testament" I re-
page 25
printed), tells of our 8th divinely called
Leader. He will be the foretold mighty Indian "Seer;" the
"Branch" prophet who is to build (with his people, with our
"assisting," III Nephi 21) the great Independence, Missouri, Temple,
Zech. 6:12-13; the mortal "One Mighty and Strong;" the eighth
"Priest" who is to stay or stop this sword or fight against this Adam
God doctrine. I quote: "Sanctification shall rest upon him, . . . and none
shall succeed him to the end of the world. In his Priesthood all sin shall have
an end .... and he shall open the Gates of Paradise, AND STAY the threatening
sword against Adam, and feed the lambs with the fruit of Life . . . and give his
own children power to tread down hurtful spirits."
Daniel also witnessed the near future
enthronement of Adam. Joseph Smith tells us: "Daniel in his 7th chapter
speaks of the Ancient of Days; he means the oldest man, our Father Adam,
Michael, He will call HIS CHILDREN together and hold a council with them to
prepare them for the coming of the Son of Man. He Adam is the Father of the
Human Family, AND presides over the Spirits of all men." T. of P. J. S., p.
157. H. of C. 3:386. Reader: Do you realize what you here have before your eyes?
Every man has two separate bodies, Spirit and Mortal. Only the Godfather of
Spirits presides over all Spirits. Hence Michael-Adam is the God of our Spirit
and Mortal bodies. The Basic Teachings of Mormondom confirm that immortal
resurrected Michael ate of a certain mortal fruit and became mortal Adam. Now
Michael's offspring were Spirit Children, who greatly desired to come into
mortality; hence Michael became Adam, therefore we are Spirit children of
Michael, and not of "Eloheim." Michael was not a Spirit man. A Spirit
man cannot become mortal except thru woman. If Michael was a mortal-then no need
of that Tree. If He was a resurrected man, then He is our Father God.
"I (Daniel) "beheld till the
thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of Days" (Adam) "did sit,
whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of His head like the pure wool:
His Throne was like the fiery flame, and His wheels as burning fire. A fiery
stream issued and came forth from before Him: thousand thousands ministered unto
Him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him: the judgment was set,
and the books were opened .... I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one LIKE
the Son of Man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of
Days" (Adam), "and they brought him" (Adam) "near before
him" (Adam's Christ, Jehovah the Great). "And there was given
him" (Adam) "dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people,
nations and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting
dominion, which shall not pass away, and His Kingdom that
page 26
which shall not be destroyed." Dan.
7:9-14. The remainder of this chapter refers to the Ancient of Days as "the
Most High." This "One like the Son of Man" is not our Elder
Brother. When our Elder Brother comes in "Glory" the dead and living
Saints are caught up in the clouds with Him. When the time comes for their
descension, He most certainly takes over His Father's Kingdom for his 1000 year
reign. Our Jesus Christ does not turn over the Earth, its peoples and kingdoms
to any one. But it is His Father, the Ancient of Days, who enthrones His most
Elect Son on the Father's throne.
In summing up we have: (1) Michael Adam
calling in, thru His Son Jesus, all Priesthood Commissions or authority. (2)
Jesus reports His Mission finished unto His Father Michael Adam. (3) Michael
Adam then reports His Mission work completed to His Christ, the "One like
the Son of Man," who has just come for this Grand closing scene. (4) He
then enthrones Adam as Supreme. (5) Then Adam God makes all things ready for our
Jesus' coming in "Glory." There must be a short period of time between
His coming in "Glory" and the making the Earth ready for His 1000 year
reign. This period to me will be the great "Marriage Supper of the
Lamb" on the Sanctified Planet of Enoch. At His coming: "He will take
you up in a cloud, and appoint every man his portion" (D. & C. 78:21),
his position and work in the coming Reign. During this short period the
destruction of the wicked and changes necessary for the Earth's Paradisiacal
Glory, will take place. (Mal. 4: 1; II Thes. 2:8; Rev. 19:7-9; Matt. 22:1-14.) I
now quote Apostle Orson F. Whitney's Version: "Michael, the Prince, the
Monarch of our race, Sire of a world from dust and spirit sprung; Here sits he,
throned in fire; before His face, Ten thousand times ten thousand throng the
judgment place." Elias, p. 51. On page 77 he enthrones Michael Adam as
"The God of Gods, Supreme Magnificence."
In our incomplete Book of Enoch (D. &
C. 107:57), our Michael, the Archangel, the "Ancient of Days" is there
called "the Lord (or Father) of Spirits," "the Head of
Days," "the Most High." Jesus is called the Elect One. I briefly
quote: (1) "I saw thousands of thousands and ten thousand times ten
thousand . . . who stood before the Lord of Spirits." . .
"Archangels:" "This first is Michael, the merciful." (2)
"And there I saw One, who had a Head of Days, And His Head was white like
wool, and with Him was another Being whose countenance had the appearance of a
man .... And I asked concerning that Son of Man .... and why He went with the
Head of Days?.... Because the Lord of Spirits hath chosen Him, And whose lot
hath the pre-eminence before the Lord of Spirits in uprightness." (3)
"In those Days I saw the Head of Days when He seated Himself upon the
throne of His Glory, and the Books of the living were opened before Him: And all
His Host which is in heaven above and
page 27
His counsellors stood before Him .... And
at that hour that Son of Man was named in the presence of the Lord of Spirits,
And His name before the Head of Days-Yea, before the Sun and the signs were
created, . . . His name was named before the Lord of Spirits .... For in His
name they are saved .... Because the Elect One standeth before the Lord of
Spirits, And His Glory is for ever and ever.
". . . And in those days shall the
earth also give back that which has been entrusted to it, And Sheol also shall
give back that which it has received." (Resurrection) ". . . And the
Elect One shall in those Days sit on My Throne .... And the Lord of Spirits
seated Him on the throne of His Glory." (4 ) ". . . This is the Son of
Man who is born unto righteousness; And righteousness abides over Him, And the
righteousness of the Head of Days forsakes Him not. And He said unto me: 'He
proclaims unto thee PEACE in the name of the world to come'." (The
Millennial Reign.) We here have our Ancient of Days called the "Head of
Days," "the Lord of Spirits" as the Father of Jesus. In the Book
of Noah, he speaks of his grandfather, Enoch, "the seventh from Adam, the
First man whom the Lord of Spirits created:" (Good explanation: Michael
created Adam.) Bk. Enoch, pp. 59-95. For the same reasons that we have two
Christs, we also have the two "Lords of Spirits."
In brief: We have positive confirmation
that Michael is the "Lord of Spirits" of our Kingdom; "First of
the Archangels," "the Most High;" "the Head of Days."
His Most Elect Son is called the Son of Man. This Son holds rights over all
sons. This Head of Days seats Himself in a judgment seat, as the Supreme Ruler,
and the Books are opened, as described in Daniel, as previously quoted.
In that certain day this Elect Son is to
be named or declared the Ruler who is to reign on His Father's throne during the
coming 1000 years. The Resurrection takes place. The Head of Days (Michael)
seats His Elect Son, Jesus, on His (Michael's) throne, and a 1000 year PEACE is
proclaimed. On p. 72: It refers to the "Lord of Spirits" directing the
great Deluge. Then: "And after that the Head of Days repented and scads 'In
vain have I destroyed all who dwell on the earth'." Again have we
"Michael Adam God" confirmed.
"Joseph's Speckled Bird." The
Prophet Joseph Smith edited certain Articles called "Paracletes" (the
Holy Ones) - "Joseph's Speckled Bird." (This issue extracted from
"Times & Seasons.") It was started in Nov. 1839. Joseph resigned
11-15-1842. He was followed by John Taylor. I now brief its main items covering
our subject. (1) The supreme Creating Head God came down from Heaven, entered
mortality and ruled approx. 1000 years over the first of
page 28
our seven dispensations. (2) The Head
Father of our Spirits, also of our bodies in mortality, is the same person, our
supreme God. (3) His Eldest
Spirit Son is our Christ and Saviour. (4) All spiritmortal children of this
supreme God, who live the fulness of His Gospel, will inherit the Glory of the
Father and the Son. (5) This supreme Father God, "the Earth's
Archangel," came here with a fixed purpose to enter mortality. (6) Our
First Estate began at our Spirit Birth; our Second, Mortality; our Third begins
at mortal death. (7) This Head
God, His wives and their Spirit children who were to be born into mortality in
this world, truly witnessed the Creation of this earth. And that "Angels
were commissioned to watch over Idumia, and act as spiritual guides to every
Soul."
Friends: All this confirms that Michael
Adam is our Supreme Father and God, the Father of both our spirit and mortal
bodies; that we "might know the Evil and choose the Good." This
"Speckled Bird" Article also reveals that Eve was only the first of
Michael's wives who came with Him. Pres. John Taylor and Jewish Talmud say there
were three. The learned President Heber C. Kimball in a sermon recorded in J. of
D. 10:235, and reprinted in "Temples of the Most High," p. 254, said:
"And I will say more, the spot chosen for the Garden of Eden was Jackson
County, in the State of Missouri, where Independence now stands; it was occupied
in the morn of Creation by Adam and His associates who came with Him for the
express purpose of peopling this earth." Question: If Adam did not live the
Plural Marriage law here on this earth-how could He condemn His children to
eternal singleness for their doing likewise? "In the resurrection, some are
raised to be Angels, others are raised to become Gods." T. of the P. J. S.,
p. 312.
The learned B. H. Roberts, President of
all the Seventies and L. D. S. Church Historian, an Adam God Worshipper,
proclaims the truth in these words: "It is generally supposed that Brigham
Young was the author of the doctrine which places Adam as the patriarchal head
of the human race, and ascribes to him the dignity of future Presidency over
this earth and its inhabitants, when the work of redemption shall have been
completed. Those who read the Prophet's treatise on the Priesthood in the text
above will have their opinions corrected upon this subject; for clearly it is
the Word of the Lord through the Prophet Joseph Smith which established that
doctrine. The utterances of Pres. Brigham Young but repeat and expound the
doctrine which the Prophet here sets forth." H. of C. 3:388. Apostle Parley
P. Pratt, in his "Angel of the Prairies," enthrones Adam, the Ancient
of Days-as God supreme.
Men, with the fulness of God's
instructions, still believing that He made Adam out of mud of this earth, are
says Roberts, a shock
page 29
to intelligence. Ye are the Temple of God,
says Paul (I Cor. 3:17). Question: Why the two special trees of Eden??? The days
of Noah are here. We, as a whole, have drifted so far into the arms of Satan,
that the members of the Lord's Church itself, with the greater portion of her
present-day leaders, are ashamed and afraid to acknowledge Michael Adam God.
Many of them are bitter enemies to this holy doctrine. There are a few who are a
little inclined to partly admit that Adam may become some kind of a God at the
complete end of our world's history. In the meantime they prefer to worship
their Grandfather God, and the Saviour of His Kingdom, which preceeded our
world. But they are very kind to this ancient Jehovah, for they give him our
Saviour's name---Jesus Christ. It also helps to fool the unlearned Saint.
We Mormons love to sing these words:
"When I lay this mortal by, Father, Mother, may I meet you, In your royal
courts on high?" Question: What other reward can they expect, save that of
a Lukewarm Soul (Rev. 3:16). Paul understood, he said: "Shall we not much
rather be in subjection unto the Father of Spirits, and live?" Heb. 12:9.
Paul also understood that Adam became God. He wrote: "The First Man is of
the earth, earthy: the Second Man is the LORD from Heaven." I Cor. 15:47.
President Heber C. Kimball said:
"There is but one God that pertains to this people, and He is the God that
pertains to this earth-the first man Adam. That first man sent His OWN son
(Jesus Christ) to redeem the world." J. of D. 4:1. His son J. Golden,
testified that he had read in his father's journal these words: "The Lord
told me that Jesus Christ was the Son of Adam." Feb. 10, 1931. Christ Jesus
was the most unpopular among those claiming Messiahship in His mortal days.
Michael Adam God is the most unpopular name of the Father Gods, in this, our
day. These two are supreme; but what degree of Glory can modem Prophets and
children claim from their Father---who they are ashamed of or fear to recognize?
Behold: "Wo unto them that are deceivers and hypocrites, for, thus saith
the Lord, I will bring them to judgment." D. 6 C. 50:6.
Our early Mormon Brethren, in the
"School of the Prophets," pierced the air with these words in song:
"We believe in OUR God, the great Prince of His race, the Archangel,
Michael, the 'Ancient of Days'." They truly cherished the fulness of the
Lord's restored Gospel. John, the Beloved, tells us: "This is life Eternal,
that they might know thee the ONLY true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast
sent." Jn. 17:3. Now, knowing cur Gods, let us "warn our
neighbor."
"Behold, this is My work and My Glory
---to bring to pass the
page 30
immortality and eternal life of man."
Moses 1:39, "Pearl of Great Price." In closing: Let us truly worship
OUR Elder Brother Jesus Christ, and OUR Spirit and Mortal Father- Michael Adam
God.
The Day of Darkness, when we will most
need our Gods: The foretold Day of Divine Judgment and Destruction against
mortal sins, is upon us. Therefore: "Seek ye the Lord while He MAY be
found, call ye upon Him while He is NEAR." Isa. 55:6.

Note: Compared and checked with an 1853 German Translation: "Das Buch Henoch," by Dr. A. Dillmann, Prof. of Theology, University of Tubingen. Chapters 91-93, Pgs. 293-303. Additions taken from this latter Translation are indicated (German). All explanatory notes by present Writer shown in brackets (---). This most ancient scripture is here presented to the Latter-day Saints, as new evidence confirming the divine mission of Joseph Smith and his great final successor, "the One Mighty and Strong"-the Indian Seer and Lawgiver. He is also referred to in Holy Writ as the "Branch" and the one "Great like unto Moses" II Nephi 3:1-25. We are also promised the full and true translation of the Book of Enoch D. & C. 107:55-57. I now quote (verbatim) the important events of the Ten Periods, as seen in vision by Enoch:
THE APOCALYPSE OF TEN WEEKS (OR PERIODS)
XCIII.
1. And after that Enoch both gave
and began to recount from the books.
2. And Enoch said: 'Concerning the
children of righteousness and concerning the elect of the world, And concerning
the plant of uprightness, I will speak these things, Yea, I Enoch, will declare
them unto you, my sons: According to that which appeared to me in the heavenly
vision, and which I have known through the Word of the holy angels, And have
learnt from the heavenly tablets!'
page 31
3. And Enoch began to recount from the
books and said: I was born the seventh in the first week, (Adam's seventh great
son.) While judgement and righteousness still endured.
4. And after me there shall arise in the
second week great wickedness. (In the Days of Noah.) And deceit shall have
sprung up; And in ("the Midst Of" German) it there shall be the first
end. (Great Flood) And in it a man shall be saved; (Noah) And after it is ended
unrighteousness shall grow up, (Tower of Babel) And a law shall be made for the
Sinners.
5. And after that in ("the
beginning of" German) the third week at its close A man shall be elected as
the plant of righteous judgment. (Abraham) And his posterity shall become the
plant of righteousness for evermore. (Israel).
6. And after that in the fourth week,
at its close, Visions of the holy and righteous shall be seen, and a
("Mosaic" German) law for all generations and an enclosure shall be
made for them. ("Ark of the Covenant" and Tabernacle.)
7. And after that in the fifth week, at
its close, The House of glory and dominion shall be built. (Solomon's
Temple.)
8. And after that in the sixth week all
who live in it shall be blinded, (Jewish Apostasy) And the hearts of all of them
shall godlessly forsake wisdom. And in it a Man ("Elias" German) shall
ascend; (Jesus the Christ, "He is the Prophet, even Elias," - Inspired
Version, J. S. - In. 1:25-30.) And at its close the House of Dominion shall be
burnt with fire, (Solomon's Temple) And the whole race of the chosen root shall
be dispersed. (Jews - beginning A. D. 70).
9. And after that in the seventh week
shall an apostate generation arise, (Dark Ages - 100 to 1800 A. D.) And many
shall be its deeds, (Killing over 100,000,000 Saints.) And all its deeds shall
be apostate.
10. And at its close, (7th Week) shall
be elected The elect righteous of the eternal plant of righteousness; (The
Prophet Joseph Smith, "The Rod of Jesse," a descendant of Abraham and
Jesus Christ.) To receive seven-fold instructions concerning all His creation.
(His Restoring the Original Gospel and Priesthood, the identity of the Trinity,
and their Works; A mighty Seer.)
11. For who is there of all the
children of men that is able to hear the voice of the Holy One without being
troubled? And who can think His thoughts? And who is there that can behold all
the works of heaven?
12. And how should there be one who
could behold the heaven, and who is there that could understand the things of
heaven and see a soul or a spirit and could tell thereof, or a ascend and see
all their ends and think them or do like them?
13. And who is there of all men that
could know what is the breadth and tine length of the earth, and to whom has
been shown the measure of all of them?
14. Or is there any one who could
discern the the
page 32
length of the heaven and how great is its height, and upon what it is founded, and how great is the number of the stars, and where all the luminaries rest? (The glorious qualifications and Mission of Joseph Smith.)
XCI. 12-17. THE LAST THREE WEEKS
12. And after that there shall be another,
the eighth week, that of righteousness. ("Preparatory Period to the
Millennial Reign," German.) (The 8th Head, "The One Mighty and
Strong" - "to set in order the House of God," the "Kingdom
of God" period.) And a sword shall be given to it ("Real Israel, with
the sword, and divine Judgments-will tread down their last enemies,"
German.) that a righteous judgment may be executed on the oppressors, and
sinners shall be delivered into the hands of the righteous.
(Dethronement of the wicked. Eighth
divinely called "Priest," "Testament of Levi." The MORTAL
"Kingdom" builder, directed by Joseph Smith and John the Revelator.
The "Mighty and Strong" Quorum. Isa. 28:1-22; D. & C. 85:6-12.)
13. And at its close they shall acquire
houses through their righteousness, (Eternal Inheritances; Order of Epoch, or
the United Order Law.) And a House, ("A New glorious Temple and the New
Jerusalem, as foretold by the Prophets." German.) shall be built for the
Great King in glory for evermore. (The Great Temple of Jackson County, Missouri,
future.) ("Near end of eighth week comes a time of rest, where a man with a
large family will live under his own vine and under his fig tree in peace, and
build up the New Jerusalem." German.) And all mankind shall look to the
path of uprightness. (The glorious Redemption of Zion, the enthronement of the
Kingdom of God. ,Dan. 2:44.)
14a. And after that, in the ninth week,
the righteous judgment shall be revealed to the whole world; b. And all the
works of the godless shall vanish from the earth. (The Great Millennial Reign.)
c. And the world shall be written down for destruction.
15. And after this, in the tenth week in
the seventh part, There shall be the great eternal judgment, in which He will
execute vengeance amongst the angels. (The final Great Judgment, including the
200 fallen angels, 7,000 A.D.)
16. And the first heaven shall depart and pass
away, and a new heaven shall appear. And all the powers of the heavens shall
give sevenfold light. (This earth in its Celestial Glory.)
17. And after that
there will be many weeks without number for ever. (For Eternity.) And all shall
be in goodness and righteousness, And sin shall no more be mentioned for ever.
(The End.)
A First Presidency Letter Regarding the
Adam-God Theory
(1912)
This is said to have been a letter to an unnamed member of the church from the First Presidency dated 20 February 1912. The original is supposed to be held in the Church Historian's Library in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.
Dear Brother,
Your question concerning Adam has not been
answered before because of pressure of important business.
We now respond briefly, but, we hope, plainly. You speak of "the assertion
made by Brigham Young that
Jesus was begotten of the Father in the flesh by our father Adam, and that Adam is the father of Jesus Christ and not
the Holy Ghost," and you say that Elders are challenged by
certain critics to prove this.
If you will carefully examine the sermon
to which you refer, in the Journal of Discourses, Vol. 1, you will
discover that, while President Young denied that Jesus was "begotten of the
Holy Ghost," he did not affirm, in so many words, that "Adam is the
father of Jesus Christ in the flesh." He said, "Jesus, our
elder brother, was begotten in the flesh by the same character that was in the
garden of Eden and who is our
Father in Heaven. Who is our "Father in Heaven"? Here is what
President Young said about him;
"Our Father in heaven begat all the spirits that ever were or ever will be
upon this earth and they were
born spirits in the eternal world. Then the Lord by his power and wisdom organized the mortal tabernacle of
man." Was He in the Garden of Eden? Surely He gave commandments
to Adam and Eve; He was their Father in Heaven; they worshipped Him and taught
their children after the fall to worship
and obey Him in the name of the Son who was to come.
But President Young went on to show that
our father Adam,--that is, our earthly father,--the progenitor
of the race of man, stands at our head, being "Michael the Archangel, the
Ancient of Days," and that
he was not fashioned from earth like an adobe, but "begotten by his Father
in Heaven." Adam is called
in the Bible "the son of God" (Luke 3:38). It was our Father in Heaven
who begat the spirit of him who was
"the Firstborn" of all the spirits that come to this earth, and who
was, also his Father by the Virgin Mary, making him "the only begotten in
the flesh." Read Luke 1:26-35. Where is Jesus called "the only
begotten of the Holy Ghost?" He is always singled out as "the only
begotten of the Father." (John 1:14;3:16,18, &c) The Holy Ghost came
upon Mary, and her conception was under that influence, even of the spirit of
life; our Father in Heaven was the Father
of the Son of Mary, to whom the Savior prayed, as did our earthly father Adam.
When President Young asked, "who is
the Father?" he was speaking of Adam as the father of our earthly
bodies, who is at our head, as revealed in Doctrine and Covenants, Section 107,
verses 53-56. In that sense he
is one of the gods referred to in numerous scriptures, and particularly by
Christ (John 10:34-36). He is the great
Patriarch, the Ancient of Days, who will stand in his place as "a
prince over us forever," and with whom we shall "have to do," as
each family will have to do with its
head, according to the holy patriarchal order. Our father, Adam, perfected and
glorified as a God, will be the
being who will carry out the behests of the great Elohim in relation to his
posterity.
(See Daniel 7:9-14.)
While, as Paul puts it, "there be
gods many and Lords many (whether in heaven or in earth), unto us there is but
one God the Father, of whom are all things, and one Lord Jesus Christ by whom
are all things." The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints worships Him, and Him alone, who is
the Father of Jesus Christ,
whom He worshipped, whom Adam worshipped, and who is God the Eternal
Father of us all.
