My name is Melonie
Burnett and I am 25 years old. I was baptized August 10, 1998.
I first heard about the True and Living Church of Jesus Christ
of Saints of the Last Days from an ex-boyfriend. I was a return
missionary from the LDS church. After my mission, I started to
see things in the LDS church that I didn't like or agree with
in the teachings. I began looking for a different church, that
is when I met my ex-boyfriend and he told me about the TLC. I
was very interested in learning more and so I began to attend
the Sunday meetings and read the pamphlets. While I was attending
the TLC, one day I looked at my mission plaque hanging in my bedroom
that had the following quote on it from Joshua.
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. (Joshua 24:15)
When I read those words it hit me hard that I hadn't been serving the Lord in the LDS church as I should be in the Last Days. When I was going to the LDS church, the feeling that I was not on the path that I should be on kept coming back to me. As I attended the TLC I grew to understand more and more the plan that our Father in Heaven has for his children and I wanted to do the things that He would have me do here in the last days.
August 8 & 9 changed my life forever because I went to the models and there I learned how the plan fits together. In the models, I felt the spirit and truthfulness of the TLC teachings of God. I new that I wanted to join with this people to do God's work and was then baptized.
I know that what I am doing is what God wants me to do. I know that the TLC is the true church of God and we are doing God's work in the Last Days. James Dee Harmston is a TRUE prophet of God. I know that plural marriage is a true principle and I look forward to someday living this principle.
