WHO ARE WE ?

Rodney Roy through his Outreach known as "Helping Mormons Reach Perfection" has been working hard to show our Mormon friends
that perfection through works is not the way to salvation.

Who is Rodney Roy? As a child, Rod grew up in a Christian home. Attended a private Baptist Christian school from 1st grade through 7th grade. At 17, with influence from his girlfriend and her family he joined the Mormon Church. Many years later, after watching a film called the Mormon Dilemma, he resigned from the Mormon Church on May 3, 1998. He has recommitted his life to Christ as a Born Again Believer.

It was at the age of 9 that Rod accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at a revival held by the Baptist church where he also attended Christian school.   At the age of 17, encouraged by his girlfriend at the time, Rod took the LDS Missionary discussions (6 preset lessons). On October 15, 1983 Rod was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Shortly thereafter on October 23, 1983 he was ordained to the office of Priest in the Aaronic Priesthood. He later moved to Boise, Idaho and met another girl who had been raised LDS, and on August 4, 1989 they got married. Rod was ordained on February 4, 1990 to the office of Elder in the Melchizedek Priesthood. Soon after, on August 4, 1990 Rod and his [now ex] wife were sealed in the Boise Idaho Temple, for time and all eternity. They had a wonderful son together, but she had decided that living a religion she no longer believed in and the fact that Rod loved the church and supposedly would never leave it, they got divorced on Dec. 7, 1993.

A few years later Rod met his now ex-wife Rose and married her on February 14, 1997 in Boise, Idaho. Because of the Mormon church's teaching that a person could not get to the highest degree of glory without a spouse who is sealed to you, for time and all eternity, and because Rod felt very out of place as a single adult with a child, he felt pressured into finding a wife, and that wife must either be LDS or Rod would need to convert her. Rose joined the church and was baptized by her husband Rod on March 16, 1997. They worked very hard for the one year to pass by so that Rose could prove her worthiness, and her and Rod could go to the temple to be sealed for time and all eternity.

After many struggles in the church and privately dealing with same sex attraction he doubted his worthiness that was expected of him by Mormon Church. Rod decided to look at other religions and find out what they taught and why they believed what they did. Through this he met a couple who began to show him God’s word and through many Bible studies, and through many people witnessing to him in many different ways, he learned that the god of Mormonism and the God of the Bible are indeed two different Gods! It was a hard choice to make, but he finally decided that the doctrines of the Mormon Church were not in harmony with Biblical Christianity. It was hard for Rod to share this with his new wife after bringing her into the church. Things did not work out for Rod and Rose in marriage and have since gotten divorced.

Rod has always felt since leaving the LDS church that the Lord used the time he was a member of the Mormon church as a beginning for something greater and bigger. It is all to His glory that he now wishes to share this truthful message. Rod has been  invited to churches throughout the Boise Area where he shared his concern for our Mormon friends.  In his presentations he shares his insights in the following two areas:

WHAT DO WE BELIEVE?

We believe the Bible to be the inerrant, eternal Word of God and the yardstick by which we measure truth and error. We believe that God has always been God in eternity past, is now God, and will always be God. We believe that Jesus Christ is God and came to earth to redeem mankind from his sinful condition. We believe that He died for our sins on the cross, was bodily resurrected, and is alive today. We believe this same Jesus will return to earth, and that our salvation is dependent upon His grace alone through our faith in Him. We believe in good works as a result of, rather than a means for, salvation. We believe and preach the same Gospel that the Apostle Paul taught in 1 Cor. 15:1-4. We believe that unless one has put his/her faith in the Biblical Jesus Christ that faith is in vain (1 Cor. 15:2,17). We also believe that if you have the wrong Jesus then you do not have the life that the real one gives (II Cor. 11:4).

WHAT DO WE DO?

We compare and contrast the Biblical God, Jesus, and Gospel to that of Mormonism. We believe in order to do this effectively it is necessary to show and document the separation which exists between Orthodox Biblical Christianity and the Mormon Church’s belief system on these issues. We also believe that our attitude must be one of compassion and caring as the Apostle Paul wisely said in Eph. 4:15, "speaking the truth in love…" It is no victory to win an argument but to lose the listening heart of that person.

WHAT ARE OUR GOALS?

Our goals are three-fold:

#1. To educate the Body of Christ (those born-again Christians who have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord) as to the differences between the God, Jesus and Gospel of the Christian faith versus that of the Mormon Church, since a large number of Mormon converts come from existing Christian faiths.

#2. To equip the Body of Christ on how to effectively witness and share the real Jesus to those lost in the Mormon Church.

#3. To actively witness to those involved in the Mormon Church via seminars, personal visits, social media, and this website. .

HOW DO WE ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS?

We use a variety of approaches and methods tailored to individuals and Churches depending on need including:

SEMINARS . . . Educating the Christian worker to recognize the "Other gospel" Paul warns us about in Galatians 1 and 2 Corinthians 11, and equipping the Christian on effective ways to witness to those involved in the Mormon Church. Through the use of movies, videos, literature, presentations, and the testimonies of those formerly involved in Mormon Church, solid Biblical instruction is given. We encourage multi/single Church presentations usually on weekends, though not limited to them, depending on the distance. This outreach has presented seminars and movie showings at camp meetings and churches. We would be very interested in sharing at pastor conferences, youth groups and Sabbath\Sunday school classes. Question and answer time is an important part of each seminar.

TRAINING AIDS . . . Various training aids are available to the Christian worker and churches such as: The Mormon Puzzle, The God Makers I & II, Temple of the God Makers, The Mormon Dilemma, and The Prophet From Palmyra are mostly now available online. Much of our literature, tapes, books and tracts are given on a donation basis or free so the body of Christ can " . . . be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you . . . " (1 Peter 3:15)

COUNSELING . . . Often confused Christians or non-believers need someone to talk with regarding the Mormon Church. It helps to talk to someone knowledgeable and trained in dealing with them from a Christian perspective. Helping Mormons Reach Perfection can provide help in this way, and direct those who need to talk to someone who has "been there" including one of us. We are in contact with various support groups of former cult members who feel the clear call to share the truth in love with those in need. Our own on-line support group and information page on Facebook and TikTok.

PROJECT PAGEANT . . . Is one of our outreaches that we have done to the thousands of Mormons and non-Mormons who come to view these pageants that are held across the United States annually during the summer months. Concerned Christian workers from different denominations gather together to distribute literature to both Mormon and non-Mormons alike. (Please call or write us for more information if you wish to know more about this exciting outreach or can help meet our financial expenses.)

ARE WE ALONE?

No, there are many that participate in sharing the truth on Mormonism. They come from all walks of life, Christian, agnostic, and athiest. Exmo TikTok is a prime example of this. We work with any Church or individual interested in our outreach and with those people in other ministries/outreaches who have similar goals. We are not the "only " outreach with a mission to the Mormon Church. Many organizations have been raised up to fight the good fight, and we have been privileged to labor with many of them combining the resources, man-power and prayer-power needed.

 HOW ARE WE FUNDED?

We do not sell our tokens for money. Most of this is done because of a conviction of the heart. Something we are driven to do and share. We are supported by the free-will offerings from our seminars and the generous gifts of those who believe in our outreach. No one on our staff is paid; we are all volunteers, and the money given to this outreach goes towards the purchase of materials materials needed for staying up-to-date and for our website and hosting costs.
